Last Thursday 6th October, the eight students who won their events at the Templestowe District Athletics Carnival participated in the Manningham Division Athletics Carnival. It was a very successful day for TPPS, with many of our students finishing in the top two places and earning an invitation to the Eastern Metropitan Athletics Carnival.
Today was the day when those students had the opportunity to compete against the best athletes in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and they more than held their own. Firstly, Che Brogan competed in the 100m sprint. Unfortunately for Che, he stumbled on the start, but true to his character and resilience, Che picked himself up and finished the race off strong. Chantelle Picinich also competed in the 100m sprint and ran a superb heat to finish in third place. Emily Steele participated in the high jump and put in a spirited performance, regardless of an ankle injury sustained on the weekend. Cross country state finalist, Annabel Krienke, ran a PB in the 800m and finished an impressive fifth place. Joining Chantelle and Emily in the 4x100m relay was Alexya Charalambous and Elefteria Loukeris. The girls ran a very strong race and missed out on the final by only half a second. Finally, Elefteria competed in the 200m sprint and 80m hurdles, running well in both and winning the latter. Congratulations to Elefteria, who will now be representing TPPS at the Victorian State Athletics Championships, we all wish you the best of luck! I could not be prouder of all the students who represented TPPS in athletics over the last couple of months, all their hard work and perseverance have more than paid off with many astonishing results.
